Design and manufacture of industrial knives to your specifications
Our products are custom-designed, according to your specifications, to perfectly meet your needs.
-
Types of knives: Sealing knives (form-fill-seal), serrated knives, zig-zag knives, perforation knives, circular knives for film slitting, anvils, shear knives and counter blades, cross-cutting knives, anvils, rotary knives, die cutting tools.
High-performance materials: Use of high-speed steels (HSS), stainless steel, tungsten carbides for maximum resistance to cardboard abrasion, and special coatings (Teflon, TiN) to prevent molten plastic or adhesives from sticking to the blades.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Industrial Blade Design Services
Can you custom manufacture heat seal knives (serrated knives)?
Yes, we specialize in the manufacturing and distribution of serrated and zig-zag knives for vertical and horizontal form-fill-seal machines (VFFS /
HFFS). We can replicate the exact tooth pitch and add heat-resistant and plastic residue-resistant coatings.
How to extend the life of your blades when facing abrasive materials such as cardboard or composite films?
For highly abrasive applications, we recommend superior steel grades such as tungsten carbide or heat-treated high-speed steels (HSS). These materials retain their sharpness much longer, reducing the frequency of replacement and avoiding jagged or poorly sealed cuts.
What to do if the plastic film melts and builds up on our heat sealing knives?
This is a common problem with high-temperature form-fill-seal machines. We design custom blades with high-tech non-stick coatings (such as Teflon or titanium nitride - TiN) or with optimized tooth geometries to dissipate heat quickly, ensuring clean cuts without residue buildup.
Our blades are wearing out prematurely when cutting recycled cardboard or kraft paper. Do you have a solution?
Cardboard, especially recycled cardboard, is a highly abrasive material. For these applications, we replace standard steel with high-speed steels (HSS), heat-treated tool steels, or even tungsten carbide inserts. This significantly increases blade life and reduces your line stoppages.
Can you fix our issues with tearing or poor "easy-open" features on our packaging?
Absolutely. Cutting defects often result from an incorrect tooth pitch or uneven wear. We can analyze your application and custom-machine perforation knives or zigzag blades with a pitch and sharpening angle perfectly calibrated for your film's thickness.
Do you also manufacture the anvils and counter-blades that go with the knives?
Yes, we manufacture complete sets. For a perfect cut at high speed, the knife and the anvil (counter-blade) must fit together with micrometric precision. We custom machine both components to ensure an optimal fit.
Can we modify an OEM blade's design to improve it?
This is one of our specialties. If your machine's original blade doesn't meet your production rates or wears out too quickly, our engineering team can modify the basic design. We'll keep the mounting dimensions (holes, slots) for installation, but we'll improve the alloy, cutting profile, or thickness to make it more efficient.
Can you replicate a complex blade if we don't have CAD drawings?
Yes, reverse engineering is one of our services. Simply send us a sample of the blade (even a worn one) as well as a sample of the material you are cutting. Our technicians will take the exact measurements and create the technical drawings for production.
Do you offer a sharpening service for serrated or zigzag packaging knives?
Yes, we have the specialized equipment (CNC) to resharpen complex profiles such as zigzag teeth or perforation blades, without altering the original pitch. Regular and professional sharpening is much more economical than constantly buying new blades.
Do you offer an emergency manufacturing service in case of machine breakdown?
As a Canadian manufacturer, we understand that a packaging line shutdown is costly. Depending on the blade type and material availability, we can expedite production for critical emergencies. Contact our sales team to learn about our priority processing capabilities.
Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ) for machining custom form fill and seal blades?
We are flexible. Although custom machining is more economical in bulk, we can produce small batches for highly specialized packaging lines or for prototype testing on new packaging materials.
